Wild Swan Retreat's Unique Features
Nestled right against the Swan Mountain Range sits this incredible twenty-acre forested property! Three craftsman style structures, including our family home, a retreat center and a small guesthouse, surround a beautiful cascading waterfall studded pond, large meandering lawns, gardens, a greenhouse, barn and fenced livestock area.
Wild Swan Retreat uniquely showcases the majestic qualities of each season.
During all seasons, you can spot a variety of wildlife traversing the land on and around this property. Sightings could include deer, elk, moose, foxes, bobcat, otters, raccoon, squirrels, bald eagles, ducks, geese, hawks, herons, owls, and many other birds. Occasionally, bear, wolf, and mountain lion are seen but our big Turkish Akbash dogs keep these larger predators off our property.
Treehouse Guest House
Rising amongst tall evergreens is our guesthouse, or what we call the "Treehouse." Guests staying at the Treehouse will enjoy a comfy queen size bed, thick queen size futon, a cozy loft for children to play, read or sleep, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, a therapeutic steam shower, small washer and dryer, and a large deck to enjoy outside dining with incredible panoramic views of the mountains and its wildlife residents. Vacationing guests are invited to share the beautiful surrounding grounds, tree swings, toddler slide, and hammocks. Guests may book through VRBO.
Retreat Center
Our Retreat Center was originally built as a yoga pavilion but functions nicely as space for meeting, dining, socializing, meditating, or working on creative projects. There is a large great room with a wood floor, a stone fireplace, and huge views of alpine glowing mountains through beautiful craftsman picture windows. Also, in the retreat center is a lovely foyer for receiving guests, a full kitchen, an office, a sitting room, a small laundry room, a guest bedroom, two full bathrooms, and a lovely covered porch. With a separate entrance and space to prep and serve, the kitchen is ideal for caterers.. Dining or workshop tables can be set up in the large great room, on the covered porch, and/or on the lawn outside the great room. Guests may book through VRBO.

Wild Swan Retreat uniquely showcases the majestic qualities of each season.
- In the Springtime, birders, mushroom foragers and wildflower enthusiasts will enjoy a plethora of finds as new life emerges from the brilliant green grasses and new growth of trees.
- Autumn is a photographer’s or painter's paradise with an amazing pallet of fall colors and enchanting light qualities, especially during sunset when the sun casts a beautiful panoramic alpine glow on the Swan Mountain backdrop.
- During winter, there are many opportunities to enjoy the snowy terrain on snowshoes, sleds, or skis, or just getting cozy by the fire with tranquil winter wonderland views. Aside from nearby downhill and cross-country skiing Basecamp Bigfork, a wonderful local dog sledding operation just down the road, offers an opportunity to enjoy the incredible artisan sport and craft of dog sledding.
- Finally, summer, is alive with flora and fauna, mountain thunderstorms, and all the recreational joys this popular season brings, such as river rafting, kayaking, paddle-boarding, hiking, horseback riding, llama trekking, fishing and boating. Just a mile off our property is a river put in/put out and right off the back end of our property is direct access to State Forest mountain trails for guests to hike with day use permits available online. Also, our younger guests will enjoy riding their mountain bikes around the property and on nearby trails (a few small bikes are available for loan).
